Miranda Kerr’s 30th birthday rumored to be the reason her contract ‘won’t be renewed’

As Victoria’s Secret Angel, Miranda Kerr, fields rumors that her million-dollar contract won’t be renewed, just two weeks before her 30th birthday, it seems a model’s commercial marketability is increasingly short-lived.

Looking back at some of the brand’s most famous Angels, like Gisele Bunchden who stepped down from the lingerie giant at 26, the average age of retirement for an Angel appears to be just 28.375, according to Buzzfeed.

However with current Victoria’s Secret Angel Alessandra Ambrosio celebrating her 32nd birthday yesterday, the average might just climb, yet.

The analysis was based on eight models, including Laetitia Casta, who ended her time as an Angel at age 21, Tyra Banks, who was 32 when she clipped her wings, Izabel Goulart, who was 24 and Selita Ebanks, who was 27.

Buzzfeed’s Amy Odell concluded: ‘So seems like Kerr may as well push a walker down that runway, far as the world of VS modeling is concerned.

Victoria’s Secret was rumored to have ‘fired’ Miss Kerr from her Angel status just before her 30th birthday, because of her purported ‘difficulty’ and expensive contract – which apparently did not sell enough underwear.

Victoria’s Secret President Ed Razek denied the claims, insisting Miss Kerr was one of the company’s most popular models and would continue to work as an Angel.

He said in a statement: ‘Miranda Kerr is one of the best models in the history of the business — and easily one of the most popular.

‘She is also a consummate professional. Any rumors to the contrary are simply untrue. While her international commitments have kept her away from us more than we’d like over the past few years, she will always be an Angel to me.

‘In fact, I’ve already invited her to walk the runway in this year’s fashion show and, happily, she’s agreed.’

This morning, Good Morning America speculated that Miss Kerr’s age could be to blame.

However Heidi Klum was 37 when she said goodbye to her Angel wings, Stephanie Seymour was 32, as was former Angel Daniela Peštová.

STRIKE A POSE: Miranda Kerr on the cover of Vogue Australia’s April edition

Miranda Kerr has claimed that her “authenticity” is the key to her success.

The 29-year-old Australian supermodel, who is famous for her Victoria’s Secret lingerie campaigns, is on the cover of the April issue of Vogue Australia.

Kerr, who is married to actor Orlando Bloom, was photographed by Miguel Reveriego for the sultry shoot, in which she shows off her famous figure in a range of high-fashion outfits.

Natasha Royt styled the stunning star is some of the major looks from the Fall/Winter 13 season. In one image, the model appears in a black bra with a pale pink jacket wrapped around her shoulders. Her hair is styled in loose waves and she looks glamorous with a slick of dark glossy red lips. In another picture the star lies across some steps with a pussy-bow neck tie covering up her decolletage.

Kerr also took part in a behind-the-scenes video from the shoot, which shows her playfully dancing around to music in between shots with her son Flynn.

In an accompanying interview, she reveals why she thinks she has so many followers on her Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts, saying her fans like to see her being herself.

“I feel like people really appreciate it when you are authentic,” she explained.

The Vogue cover has come out just days after the model was involved in a car crash in Los Angeles which left her wearing a neck brace.

Kerr’s Sydney-based spokesperson Annie Kelly revealed last week: “She is in a lot of pain, but really we are just glad it was not more serious”.

Australian supermodel Miranda Kerr has been involved in a serious car accident in Los Angeles which has left her wearing a neck brace.

Kerr was in the car with an assistant on Monday when another car allegedly rammed into them on a busy LA motorway, resulting in Kerr being rushed to hospital and undergoing MRI scans for possible injuries.

It is understood the driver of the other car has been arrested and is likely to face reckless driving charges.

Kerr’s spokeswoman Annie Kelly said the model was ”thankful that her baby boy Flynn was not in the car with her”.

”She is in a lot of pain but really, we are just glad that it was not more serious.”

Kerr has been comforted by her husband, actor Orlando Bloom, and is expected to resume her work commitments in coming days.

She is due to return to Sydney in April when she is expected to unveil the new Qantas uniforms, designed by Paris-based Australian fashion luminary Martin Grant.
